DLJI.jpgThe theatrical premieres will include Euripides' tragedy Medea, directed by the renowned Slovenian theatre director Tomaž Pandur, in collaboration with the Croatian National Theatre of Zagreb; Büchner's masterpiece depicting the French Revolution, Danton's Death, directed by the most frequently awarded Croatian theatre director Oliver Frljić; and Saša Božić's authorial work entitled THE MISER: DUBROVNIK SUMMER FESTIVAL, in collaboration with the Lazareti Art Workshop.
- One of Euripides' most intriguing and enigmatic pieces, Medea will be performed at Fort Lovrjenac, which – owing to its stratified network of corridors and terraces – becomes an ideal venue for unveiling the hidden corners of female soul. In Danton's Death, Oliver Frljić will attempt to reveal the connection between historic events and human destinies; the conditions of growth of the new order stemming from the French Revolution, and the fall of another order that had been inviolable for centuries: the Dubrovnik Republic. Saša Božić's authorial project THE MISER: DUBROVNIK SUMMER FESTIVAL explores memory as a source of a new theatrical play. The play is based on the Festival visitors' memories of the play The Miser directed by Kosta Spajić, which are used as a starting point for the authorial meditation on the theme: the meaning and effects of theatrical art – explained Dora Ruždjak Podolski.
The repeat performances will include two last year's hits: Sophocles' Oedipus by Eduard MIler and Stulli's Kate Kapuralica directed by Dario Harjaček, which will be performed in May 2012 during the closing night of the Mostar Spring Festival.
