„A true Violinist for the 21st Century“ Gilles Apap at the Festival
Classical music virtuoso at the violin, hailed by Lord Yehudi Menuhin “A true violinist for the 21st century”, Gilles Apap will perform at the 61st Dubrovnik Summer Festival, on Sunday, August 1, at 9:30 pm in the Rector’s Palace.

He has also become widely known for extraordinary ability to integrate a variety of musical genres. His devotion and passion for music doesn't end with the classical music, it rather merges and conciliates classical music and the traditional folk tune. At the concert in the Rector's Palace the Festival's audience will have the opportunity to enjoy Apap's interpretation of Mozart, Vivaldi and Breiner.
Gilles Apap was a student of the eminent professors, and attended the Curtis Institute of Music in the United States. Significant moment of his career was winning at the prestigious International Menuhin Competition that provided him the affection and assistance of famous Lord Menuhin. Apap performed in the eminent concert halls and cooperated with the orchestras renowned worldwide.
Classical music scene was astonished when his ensemble Transylvanian Mountain Boys first appeared. After, he founded The Colors of Invention cooperating with accordionist Myriam Lafar, double-bassist Philippe Noharet and cymbalum player Ludovit Kovac, an ensemble that continues to dazzle audiences worldwide with their virtuosity and exceptional arrangements of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and other classical favorites, intertwined with the world’s traditional folk music.
Gilles Apap will perform accompanied with the Zagreb Soloists ensemble. They have performed on more than three thousand concerts around the world, being praised with high honors in the eminent concert halls and music centers. Zagreb Soloists were founded at the Zagreb Radio and Television. Guided by highly reputed violoncellist and conducter Antonio Janigra they have soon grown into one of the world best chamber ensembles of this kind.
Acoompanied with the Zagreb Soloists, Gilles Apap will for sure demonstrate all of his virtuosity and once more affirm that he is „a true violinist for the 21st century“.
