Great Russian Pianist at the Festival
Music program of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival continued with the finest notes by one of the greatest Russian pianists Nikolai Lugansky. Concert took place in the Rector's Palace Atrium on Friday, July 30, at 9:30 pm.
As a seven-year old boy, Lugansky was accepted in the Moscow Central School of Music. Rapid artistic growth under the care of his music teacher Tatiana Nikolajeva brought him first award at the Soviet-union competition in Tbilisi in 1988, and many other awards at the prestigious competitions. Especially remembered is his performance at the Čajkovski Piano Competition, after which his career and fame, just continues to grow. Lugansky often performs at orchestra, recital and chamber concerts in eminent European, American and Asian music centers and cooperates with renowned artists and conductors. His abundant discography works brought him acknowledgment and awards. Lugansky is also involved in teaching and educating young artists.
This virtuoso performed at the 61st Dubrovnik Summer Festival with Frédéric Chopin i Sergej Vasiljevič Rahmanjinov compositions and this way contributed to celebrating Chopin's 200th anniversary.
