Science Fiction Story by Nevio Marasović
Projection of the film „The Show Must Go On“, by Nevio Marasović and the winner of Critic's Award of the Pula Film Festival will take place on Wednesday July 28, at 9:30 pm in the open air cinema Jadran.
Envisioned as a medium length film The Show Must Go On is about the successful and ambitious producer of the reality show Housed. He is trying hard to conceal the truth from the show competitors, six love couples who are isolated in a house, about the war going on in the whole Europe. Story takes place in the future, in Zagreb, Split and the Island of Vis. Director got inspired for the film while watching Big Brother reality show, when the isolated contestants were the only ones to escape the fear of, at that time present, epidemics of the Avian flue.
Already in the early childhood, director Nevio Marasović had shown great talent for shooting. Videos and commercials he made while studying at the Academy of Dramatic Arts have been awarded. The Show Must Go On took a year of preparation and 43 days of shooting. Marasović says that the film is primarily about the human relations while the dimension of war and other sensations stays minor issue. Marasović appreciates work of Ronald Emmerich and wittingly avoids present trend of commercialization and loss of the artistic in filming. Considering his next project, he shows interest in Dalmatia region which attracts him and inspires.
Although the film was made with the minimal expenses, the team of actors is impressive. The actors are great Croatian acting names Sven Medvešek, Nataša Dorčić, Amar Bukvić, Filip Jurčić and others. Saša Bijelić produced the film, Damir Kudina is the camera operator, assembling is done by Mark Ferković, set design by Nina Petrović, costume design by Marina Eva Maletin and the music creator is Željko Marasović.
