Guest performance of the play A Midsummer Night's Dream in Mostar and Debrecen
The Dubrovnik Festival Drama Ensemble will perform Shakespeare's comedy
A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Dora Ruždjak Podolski, on 24 May, at the 11th Matica Hrvatska Days in Mostar. The ensemble will perform the same play in Debrecen, Hungary, on 10 June 2009.

The plot of this romantic and intriguing story of the interweaving of the two parallel worlds, that of people and of fairies, is based on the four young lovers, the dwellers of Athens, with whose hearts the fairies - living in the nearby forests covered by the moon's web – played. Thanks to the magical setting of the Island of Lokrum and the actor's performance, the play was warmly received by the Dubrovnik audiences. The play was translated by Milan Bogdanović, Saša Šekoranja was in charge of set design, Barbara Bourek of costume design and Dinko Applet of music. The leading actors of the Festival Drama Ensemble are Goran Grgić and Nataša Dorčić, and the remaining members of the ensemble including Milan Pleština, Jerko Marčić, Ana Begić, Ivana Bakarić, Tena Jeić-Gajski, Vedran Mlikota, Radovan Ruždjak, Živko Anočić, Mirta Zečević, Saša Naumov, Zijad Gračić, Dušan Gojić and Roy Christian Sabolić gave impressive theatrical creations. This festival hit was produced in 2007, in collaboration with the Croatian National Theatre of Zagreb, and premiered at the 58th Dubrovnik Summer Festival on the Island of Lokrum. The play was later performed many times in Zagreb and guest-performed at the Split Summer Festival last year. For several years in a row, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival has appeared at the Mostar Spring Festival – one of the major cultural events in the region - with its own productions.
The Dubrovnik Summer Festival guest performance in Hungary is the result of the collaboration with the Csokonai Theatre of Debrecen, known to the Croatian audiences for their guest performances of
Uncle Maroje at the last year's Dubrovnik Summer Festival and the recent Marulić Days Festival in Split.
