On the occasion of the beginning of rehearsals for A Midsummer’s Night Dream on Lokrum
The rehearsals for this year’s first drama premiere at the 58
th Dubrovnik Summer Festival,
A Midsummer’s Night Dream, begin on July 1
st on the island of Lokrum, where the play will originally be performed as part of the program of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival. After a month and a half of rehearsals, the Festival Drama Ensemble is going to replace the boards of the Croatian National Theatre of Zagreb with those on the island of Lokrum, which have been a prolific stage for Vojnović’s Equinox for years.

One of the best known Shakespeare’s plays,
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a romance with elements of comedy about four young lovers whose paths cross in unfortunate ways. The play will be directed by Dora Rudžjak Podolski, one of the most prominent Croatian directors, whose work is well known to the Festival’s audience. The actors who will open the door of patient and productive rehearsals on the boards of the host town this year, is precisely the cast of
A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Nataša Dorčić, Vedran Mlikota, Zijad Gračić, Ana Begić, Renata Sabljak, Milan Pleština and other, not less important, members of the Festival Drama Ensemble.
The play is co-produced by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and the Croatian National Theatre of Zagreb and will be first performed on July 21
st, 2007 on the island of Lokrum.
