Tartini string quartet on the 60th Dubrovnik Summer Festival
Dubrovnik, 3rd of August 2009. – On the 5th of August in the Rector’s Palace Atrium at 21:30 the excellent Slovenian chamber ensemble will perform at the 60th Dubrovnik Summer Festival. The extensive repertoire includes compositions from all stylistic periods, from baroque until the 20th century. The Festival audience will have a chance to enjoy Haydn’s, Dvorak’s and Ravel’s compositions.

The Tartini String Quartet was founded in 1983. and is made of the violinists Miran Kolbl and Romeo Drucker, the violinist Aleksandar Milošev and the cellist Miloš Mlejnik. Tartini performs regularly in Slovenia, and was a guest performer all over Europe. The Quartet often collaborates with many noted musicians such as Irena Grafenauer, Mate Bekavac, Maria Graf, Bruno Giuranna, and others. When Slovenia joined the European Union, the Tartini Quartet was declared a Slovenian representative and performed in that role within the Europamusicale programme in Madrid, Berlin, Leipzig, Wiesbaden and Munich. One of their more important projects is the three year long cycle of concerts in Ljubljana ( 2004. -2006.), in which all of Beethoven’s and Mozart’s string quartets were performed. The Tartini string quartet is the winner of the Prešern’s foundation award in 2001.
Tartini's performance with the harpist Mojca Zlobko-Vajgl was announced already in February, but because of her hand injury, her performance had to be cancelled. Because of this change the program differs from the one in the program booklet.
