dolencic.jpgIn the play whose cast is made exclusively of Dubrovnik actors (Maro Martinović, Nikša Kušelj, Niko Kovač), the role of the miser is given to Predrag Vušević, who during the '80s and '90s played the whole range of Držić's characters: Uncle Maroje, Maro, Pomet, Grižula. Vušević received the Orlando Award for Drama in 1989. When introducing the program of the Festival, Ivica Kunčević said: “And last but not least, Arkulin – a work of a surprising modernity. In this time of global integration, Arkulin’s destiny sounds almost as a warning. The return of Držić in our theatres, in contemporary sensitive interpretations, could possibly prevent some evil Negromant from stealing our souls. The anniversaries of talented men, just like Držić was, come even at the right time.  We’ll continue to deal with Držić the next year as well.”
