Concert for Japan in the Rector's Palace
Concert of Croatian Baroque Ensemble and violinist Laura Vadjon entitled Concert for Japan was held on August 4 in the Atrium of the Rector's Palace. All the revenue from the ticket sales was donated to aid Japan affected by the earthquake that stroke in March.
Croatian Baroque Ensemble regularly performs on the music stages in Croatia and internationally, and is frequent guest at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival. Ensemble is specialized for historically authentic interpretation of the 17th and 18th century music on original baroque instruments and its replicas. Laura Vadjon, Ensemble’s art director, concertmaster and the soloist on the baroque violin, is internationally renowned and acclaimed baroque music authority who regularly collaborates with the world’s greatest names of baroque music. At the Concert for Japan, compositions of J.S. Bach, D. Castello, L. Sorkočević, J. Haydn, B. Marini and A. Vivaldi were performed.
These finest Croatian musicians played on the baroque harpsichord which was donated to the Dubrovnik Summer Festival by the Japanese government. All the ticket sales revenue were donated in aid of those severely impacted by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
