Contemporary Dance at the Festival
Widely acknowledged and rewarded contemporary dance artists Emio Geco and Pieter C. Scholten will perform two short ballets One & Two on August 7.
These worldwide recognized artists, founders of the Emio Geco/PC dance company and initiators of the International Choreography and Arts Center in Amsterdam, are considered to be one of the most intriguing innovators of contemporary dance in Europe. The source of their artistic creation is the curiosity about the body and about the limits of the dancing body. Although contemporary without any doubt, their work is consisted of the traditional ballet forms which are at the same time being transformed and questioned.
Ballets One & Two question and at the same time seek the utopia of synchronicity. In ballet One Emio Greco faces the ravishing music of Ravel’s Bolero. Trying to resist but reacting to this music, Greco explores the limitations of the dancing body. Ballet Two presents different aspects of duality and manifestation of the polarity as well as the harmony.
