Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra with Coppey at the Rector's Palace
The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra under the lead of Indonesian maestro Noorman Widajaja for the third time, performed as part of the rich musical programme of this years' Dubrovnik Summer Festival together with one of the leading cellists of today Marc Coppey on Tuesday, the 16th of August in the Rector's Palace Atrium.

The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra has a history of numerous performances in Croatia and abroad, as much in countries throughout Europe and the US as well. The orchestra cares for a wide repertoire, from baroque to classic and romantic pieces, which is then played in the Rector's Palace, in the town's churches squares. The present chief-conductor of the orchestra is Zlatan Srzić, and guest conductor from 2009 is the Indonesian maestro Noorman Widjaja. Noorman Widjaja cooperated with a number of orchestras from around the world and also with many notable instrumental and opera soloists. For his activities for peace, poor children and areas struck with natural disasters he was proclaimed honorary citizen of Soave, Monteforte and Racconigija in Italy. Marc Coppey, one of the leading cellists of today is a regular guest of the most prestigious concert halls today.
An active chamber player, he explores and performs a cellist's repertoire alongside noted musicians, creating music on a prized cello by Matteo Goffrillero from 1711. He regularly performs Bach's Suite's and other well known repertoires, but also performs less known works for the audience to learn. He plays and promotes modern music of authors such as Christian Durieux, Fénelon, Jarrell, Krawczyk, Lenot, Monnet, Pauset, Reverdy and Tanguy, who have dedicated their works to him.
For the concerts of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra an extra ticket is always sought, and for this time the Festival audience had the chance to enjoy in the works of Matz, Lal i Dvořák.
