Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra playing Beethoven, Rota and Tchaikovsky
Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra conducted by great maestro Noorman Widjaja performed at Wednesday at the Fort Revelin within the music program of this year's Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
Common guest at the Festival, great Indonesian conductor Noorman Widjaja who demonstrated exceptional talent as a eleven-years old boy, performed frequently with large number of famous orchestras and cooperated with some of the most eminent soloists throughout the world. Widjaja often performs in Italy as conductor and as pianist, and since 2002 has been active Principal Conductor of the Seto Philharmonic Orchestra and a concert pianist in Asia and Europe.
Renowned double bassist Božo Paradžik is one of the few awarded with the Rector's Award for 'exceptionally high level of the artistic interpretation'. He received many international honors as a young boy, and at the age of twenty-one became substitute for the double bass soloist of the Den Haag Residentie Orchester. At the concert halls throughout the world he performed as a soloist, with chamber partners and with orchestras. Paridžik's repertoire is diverse, from classical to late Romanticism. He is the winner of the Orlando Award at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in 2002.
Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1925. Its members are academic musicians that, with their performance of the Baroque, classic and Romanticism repertoire, delight the audiences in Croatia and abroad. Orchestra cooperated with globally renowned conductors and soloists, and at the 61st Dubrovnik Summer Festival they performed with the L. Van Beethoven, N.Rota and P.I.Tchaikovsky compositions.
