On the occasion of celebrating its jubilee 70th iteration, in cooperation with the City of Zagreb Tourist Board, the greatest and most significant Croatian festival, one of the oldest festivals in Europe – the Dubrovnik Summer Festival – is coming to Zagreb in September.
A Magnificent Finale of the Anniversary 70th Festival with the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra and Percussionist Simone Rubino
The anniversary 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival ended last night, 25 August, with a magnificent closing concert in front of the St. Blaise’s Church by the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra and the virtuoso percussionist Simone Rubino under the baton of maestro Enrico Dindo after which the Festival Libertas flag was lowered.
The piano legend Ivo Pogorelich held a recital last night, 18 August, in the Rector’s Palace atrium. Pogorelich’s performance at the anniversary 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival has long been sold out and all its high expectations were met, surpassed even, in the almost two hours of magical music which the Festival audiences enjoyed last evening.
The ingenious Ivana Buljan Legati performed the Room For A View monodrama last night, 17 August, on the stunning Bokar fort. Based on the Virginia Woolf short story The New Dress and directed by Marina Petković Liker, the monodrama Room For A View sheds light on our inner insecurities which are deepened by societal pressure.
Today’s press conference announced the third premiere title of this Festival season – the play Geranium by director Marina Pejnović and dramaturge Ivan Penović, and performed by the Festival Drama Ensemble. Geranium is based on the eponymous Ivo Vojnović short story and Antun Šoljan’s Island. The first performance is on Tuesday, 20 August, at 9.30pm in the Art School Park. Artistic Director of the Festival Dora Ruždjak Podolski, her Assistant Artistic Director for drama Saša Božić were joined by Josipa Vodenac, Director of the OTP Bank Business Center Dubrovnik and Southern Dalmatia who donated to the play and the play’s director Marina Pejnović along with the dramaturge Ivan Penović and Festival Drama Ensemble members.
Continuing the theatre programme of the anniversary 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, the monodrama Room For A View based on the Virginia Woolf short story The New Dress and directed by Marina Petković Liker, will be performed on the Bokar fort by Ivana Buljan Legati, on Saturday, 17 August at 9.30pm.

One of the greatest classical musicians of our time, the legendary pianist Ivo Pogorelich, will be performing at the anniversary 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival on Sunday, 18 August, at 9.30pm in the Rector’s Palace. On the repertoire are Bach’s English Suite No. 3 in G minor, Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 11 in B flat major, Chopin’s Barcarolle and Prelude in C sharp minor, along with Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit.
