Legendary Mariinsky Ballet at the 70th Festival

One of the premier world ballets, the historic Mariinsky Theatre, will be performing for the first time ever at the 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, on its grand anniversary. This unique event of regional as well as national significance will see the magnificent Mariinsky artistes performing The Four Seasons, a ballet in two acts choreographed by Ilya Zhivoi based on the Max Richter recomposition of the well-known eponymous Vivaldi concerto. They will be performing two evenings in a row, on 4 August and 5 August, in the Gradac park at 9.30pm. Tickets for both have been sold-out.

Italian Trio Il Volo in Dubrovnik 1 August


The Italian operatic pop trio Il Volo, consisting of baritone Gianluca Ginoble with tenors Piero Barone and Ignazio Boschetto, will be performing in front of the Cathedral on 1 August, along with their backup band, while orchestral accompaniment will be made up of Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra members. The concert, which has attracted a lot of public interest, will start at 9.30pm.

Young Virtuosos of the Esperanza Ensemble at Rector's Palace


The talented young musicians of the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein have, in just four years, won numerous awards and acclaims, as well as published three records - they are the Esperanza Ensemble. Along with violinist Sara Domjanić and pianist Dmytro Choni, they will be holding a concert in the Rector's palace atrium on Tuesday, 30 July, at 9.30pm.

Another performance of “Hamlet” will be given tomorrow, 30 July, at 12.30am, following the first performance of the evening to compensate yesterday’s cancelled one. The play will last 2 hours and 20 minutes, without a pause.

Tonight's Performance of "Hamlet" Cancelled

Tonight’s performance of Hamlet is cancelled due to bad weather and an actor’s minor injury. A notice about a potential repeat performance will be posted as soon as possible. Reimbursement for bought tickets will be available at the box office at the Festival Palace (Od Sigurate 1, Old City), starting tomorrow, 29 July (9am to 9.30pm).

Standing Ovations for the First Premiere Theatre Production of the Anniversary 70th Festival, Hamlet


The first premiere title of this Festival season, Shakespeare’s Hamlet as directed by Paolo Magelli and performed by the Festival Drama Ensemble, was put on last night, 27 July, on the Lovrjenac fort. The outstanding cast led by the first-ever Hamlet from Dubrovnik, Frano Mašković, and the breath-taking Lovrjenac as Elsinore more than justified the high expectations. The play attracted people from all over the region and many Croatian dignitaries attended the premiere, including Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Minister of Culture Nina Obuljen Koržinek.

Outstanding Šivak and Mistero buffo on Bokar

The incredible thespian Dražen Šivak played more than 30 characters last night, 26 July, in a virtuosic performance of the Dario Fo masterpiece, the monodrama Mistero buffo as directed by Lee Delong, in front of a large audience on the stunning Bokar fort.

Standing Ovation for the Croatian Radio and Television Choir & Tomislav Fačini

Croatian Radio and Television Choir, under the baton of their principal conductor and the Festival’s own Assistant Artistic Director for Music maestro Tomislav Fačini, gave a breath-taking performance last night, 25 July, in the Rector’s palace atrium. The evening’s programme included the most beautiful Russian Orthodox choral literature: selections from Sergey Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil and Three Choruses by Georgy Sviridov.

A Spectacular Evening of Folklore with Linđo and KUD Jedinstvo at Revelin

The Linđo Folklore Ensemble continues their tradition of performing at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and, on the Festival’s 70th birthday, with four performances the first of which was last night Wednesday 24 July. Linđo was joined by KUD Jedinstvo, the esteemed folklore ensemble from Split. Jedinstvo are celebrating this year as well – 2019 marks one hundred years since their ensemble was founded. The two folklore ensembles delighted the sizeable audience on the beautiful Revelin fort terrace.
