Festival favourite Martina Filjak joined by Felix Klieser and Andrej Bielow at Rector’s Palace on Thursday
Pianist Martina Filjak along with Felix Klieser on horn and Andrej Bielow on violin will hold a concert on Thursday 12 August in the Rector’s Palace atrium at 9.30pm. On the programme are pieces for piano, horn and violin by Duvernoy, Schumann, Dukas, Wieniawski and Brahms.
“Lion House” to premiere on playground below Minčeta Fort towards the end of the 72nd Festival
The playground below Minčeta Fort is the site of busy rehearsals for this season’s last drama premiere, the play “Lion House” based on an eponymous Ivan Salečić novel in adaptation by Marijana Fumić and directed by Aida Bukvić, with performances by the Festival Drama Ensemble. The play is on the 72nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival programme from 20 to 24 August at the aforementioned location.
Dance play Together performed at Lazareti
The Together project co-produced by 21:21 Arts Organisation and Pan-Adria Network as choreographed by Petra Hrašćanec in collaboration with six young dancers was performed last night, 8 August at Lazareti as part of the 72nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
The unique Dubrovnik on a Rock of Music again on the Festival music programme
The unique programme Dubrovnik on a Rock of Music gathers an exciting ensemble of top Dubrovnik musicians of unusual instrument choices and distinct personalities once again this Festival summer, supported by Caboga Stiftung foundation, on Tuesday 10 August in the Rector’s Palace atrium, at 9.30pm. The ensemble conducted by Tomislav Fačini will perform pieces by Debussy, Ibert, Đurović and Mahler.
American tenor Lawrence Brownlee wows Festival audience
Leading American tenor and bel canto star Lawrence Brownlee, along with pianist Vesna Podrug Kossjanenko, wowed the Festival audiences last night, 6 August in the packed atrium of the Rector’s Palace in one of the most eagerly awaited concerts at the 72nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
Evan Shinners' Musical Play for Children
The popular young American pianist and electronic music composer Evan Shinners will hold an interactive workshop Musical Play for Children with Igor Jurinić as the narrator on Saturday and Sunday 14 and 15 August in two time slots, at 19.30pm for children ages 4 to 7 and at 9pm for children from 7 to 12 years old. The programme is supported by the Caboga Stiftung foundation and free to attend with tickets collected prior to the event at the box office of the Festival Palace (Od Sigurate 1) which is open every day from 9am to 9.30pm.
Magical Harmony of Dance Performed Together on Sunday at Lazareti
Dance recital Together coproduced by the 21:21 arts organization and the Pan – Adria network and based on choreography by Petra Hrašćanec in collaboration with six young dancers will be performed at Lazareti as part of the 72nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival on Sunday, 8 August at 9.30pm.
kvARTet’s brilliant Festival debut in the Rector’s Palace
Violinists Đana Kahriman, Eva Šulić and Šimun Končić with cellist Pavle Zajcev had their first performance as a string chamber ensemble, under the name kvARTet, last night 3 August in the Rector’s Palace atrium. Their debut was triumphant, judging by the delight of the audience who enjoyed the evening’s excellent repertoire of Beethoven and Dvořák string quartets.
First reprise of Marin Držić’s “Grižula” performed in Gradac Park
The Marin Držić comedy “Grižula” directed by Saša Božić and Petra Hrašćanec, wowed the large audience, gathered in the Gradac Park last night 2 August, again this Festival season as it did last summer at the 71st Dubrovnik Summer Festival. The Festival Drama Ensemble made the evening special by dedicating their performance to the recently passed doyen of Croatian theatre Miše Martinović. The hit play is on again tonight 3 August and tomorrow 4 August at 9.30pm in the Gradac Park.
