25th Croatian Theatre Award – 68th Dubrovnik Summer Festival productions nominated in five categories

The list of nominees in all categories for the jubilee 25th Croatian Theatre Awards was announced at the press conference of the Croatian Society of Dramatic Artists held in Zagreb on Thursday, 9 November. The awards ceremony, which takes place at the Croatian National Theatre of Zagreb on 24 November, airs on Croatian Radio and Television.

Best Play in DRAMA category nominees include Hrvoje Ivanković and Ivica Boban play Marin Držić – Victory over the Enemies, directed by Ivica Boban and performed by the Festival Drama Ensemble, which was first performed at the 68th Dubrovnik Summer Festival on 20 August 2017, in the Luka Sorkočević Art School Park. Best Directing in DRAMA category nominees include Ivica Boban for her direction of the aforementioned play. Best First Performed Modern Croatian Script, or Best Dramaturgical Concept and Text Adaptation, or Dramaturgy Category nominees include Hrvoje Ivanković for his dramaturgical concept and adaptation of the text of the aforementioned play, and Ivica Boban for her dramaturgical adaptation of the text of the aforementioned play.

Best Play in OPERA Category nominees include Georg Friedrich Handel Orlando, conducted by David Bates and directed by János Szikora, premiered at the 68th Dubrovnik Summer Festival on 28 July 2017 at the Benedictine Monastery Cloister on the Island of Lokrum. Best Female Singer in OPERA Category nominees include Ivana Lazar for the role of Angelica in the aforementioned opera.

Established in 1993 by the Croatian Society of Dramatic Artists, the Croatian Theatre Award is Croatia's most prestigious annual award for the best artistic achievements in the fields of theatrical, TV and radio art.
