Dubravka Tomšić and Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra in the Rector's Palace Atrium

Pianist legend Dubravka Tomšić  will perform with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro Ramon Tebar with the  program composed exclusively of compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven on Friday, 14th August at 9 pm in Rector's Palace Atrium.

Dubravka Tomšić who was born in Dubrovnik has a status of icon among the piano lovers according to Gramophone Magazine. And the Festival audience can’t do anything but agree with it. She has been known as the only protégé of the legendary pianist Arthur Rubinstein who described her as a perfect and a marvellous pianist. Dubravka Tomšić held her first public solo concert when she was a five year old girl, after that her international career rises and takes her to five continents on which she has given more than 5,000 concerts.

Her performance at the 66th Dubrovnik Summer Festival will be an appropriate anniversary marking of her 70 years long career. She will be performing along with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra who is also commemorating a meaningful anniversary. For 90 years this orchestra has been a winner of the most prestigious awards, including Milka Trnina award for extraordinary artistic achievements. The Orchestra has been continuously enriching Dubrovnik music scene not only with their numerous performances but with their loyalty and commitment to music from different periods. On this occasion, Ramón Tebar, a successful Spanish conductor who has been building his successful career in the USA for years, will be conducting the Orchestra. Magazine Miami Herald enlisted him in top 20 conductors in the under 40 years old category, and the Spanish magazine ABC among top 10 internationally acknowledged Spanish conductors, and magazine Marca Espana among 100 most successful Spanish talents in the world. Beethoven’s Cariolan Overture, Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat major, Emperor Concerto, Op. 73, a so called Emperor Concerto and Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92 will be performed.
