Italian musicans preformance followed by ovations

Italian clarinetist Giampiero Sobrino and pianist Roberto Moretti performed at the 66th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, yesterday, 19th July at 9:30 pm in the Rector's Palace atrium.

Prominent Italian clarinetist and artistic director of the Arena di Verona Giampiero Sobrino and his compatriot, pianist Roberto Moretti presented their work to the Festival audience by performing Donizetti's Concertino for Clarinet in B-flat major, Liszt's transcription for piano of Isolde's final aria from Wagner's opera Tristan und Isolde, Bassi’s Concert fantasy on motifs from Verdi's Rigoletto, Saint-Saens’ Swan in transcription for clarinet and piano, Liszt’s Faust waltz transcriptions for piano solo in which he pays tribute to the original author Gounod and finally Poulenc’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Op. 184, originally composed for Benny Goodman and Leonard Bernstein. Sobrino's virtuosity was followed by a standing ovation and shouts of "Bravo!" and the musicians performed three encores.

The concerts in the Rector's Palace atrium within the 66th Dubrovnik Summer Festival will be continued on Friday, 24th July with Slovene Octet. Tickets for the performance are available online on the website of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival at www.dubrovnik-festival.hr, in retail outlets in the Festival Palace (Od Sigurate 1), on the Stradun, in the Multimedia Centre Visia, in the Culture and Information Centre in Luža, the Old Bell Tower, and one hour before the performance at the box office at venue entrance.
