Ovations for Kesselyák and the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra

Date created: 13.07.2014.

The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and cellist Kajana Pačko, lead by visiting conductor Gergely Kesselyák, opened the first in this season’s series of top concerts in the Rector’s Palace Atrium. The concert took place on 12th July in front of an enthusiastic national and international audience.

This is no surprise, as the usually popular concerts of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, visiting soloists and guests are always well visited events fancied by the Festival’s audience. As the Palace filled up until the last improvised seat in the staircase, this concert proved it was no exception. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra began the concert with an energetic performance of the third suite Antiche arie e danze by Ottorino Respighi, followed by Cello Concerto in D major by Luigi Boccherini alongside cellist Kajana Pačko, who managed to bring out the composition’s elegance and airiness. The concert ended with one of the most popular and well known orchestral piece by George Frideric Händel –Water Music, upon which the audience broke into a long applause bringing the conductor back on stage several times.

The next big concert to take place in the Rector’s Palace as part of the 65th Dubrovnik Summer Festival’s programme will be performed by the famous Bachorchestra of the Gewandhaus Leipzig on 17th July.
