Shakespeare’s "Timon of Athens“ at the Festival on 20th and 21st July

Date created: 19.07.2014.

"Timon of Athens”, under the direction of Georgij Paro, will be performed as part of the 65th Dubrovnik Summer Festival’s programme on Sunday, July 20th and Monday 21st July at 9.30 p.m. in the Center for Advanced Academic Studies Atrium and the University of Dubrovnik Campus Park.

"Timon of Athens” premiered at last year’s Split Summer Festival receiving praise from both the critics and the audience. It is one of Shakespeare’s most seldom performed and least-liked plays. Although it is considered coarse, bitter and cynical, its topics of money, greed and arrogance are gradually awakening the interest of today’s audiences. This adaptation of Shakespeare’s  seldom performed work is directed and dramaturgically processed by Georgij Paro, scenography created by Dinka Jeričević, costume design by Dijana Kosec Bourek, music by Gordan Tudor, light design by Miljenko Bengez and sound design by Tomislav Luetić.  Vili Matula stars as Timon, alongside Vladimir Posavec Tušek, Filip Radoš, Mijo Jurišić, Goran Marković, Trpimir Jurkić, Sreten Mokrović, Arijana Čulina, Žarko Radić, Nenad Srdelić, Josip Zovko and many others in supporting roles.

"Timon of Athens” will be performed as part of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival’s programme on the 20th and 21st of July with a start at 9.30 p.m. in the Center for Advanced Academic Studies Atrium, whereas the play’s second part will take place in the University of Dubrovnik Campus Park. Tickest are available for purchase in the price range of 130-200 kunas.
