Six dancers between dream and reality

Date created: 07.08.2016.

Dance performance Anything by the awarded Spanish choreographer Daniel Abreu, was performed last night, 6 August, by the dancers from reputable Zagreb Dance Company on the Revelin Fort Terrace as part of the 67th Dubrovnik Summer Festival programme.

Although it was first performed in 2013, Anything is one of the best domestic contemporary dance performances recently. It was created in co-production of Zagreb Dance Company and the Zagreb Youth Theatre. It arrived in Dubrovnik in the professional selection of Croatian Dance Network.

In Anything, viewer does not follow some particular story, but the body in motion, which remembers everything that happened in his life and speaks for itself. Six great dancers of Zagreb Dance Company - Ognjen Vučinić, Aleksandra Mišić, Petra Chelfi, Martin Nevistić, Peter Valentić and Nika Lilek - are co-creators of this work. During the work process they were investigating and trying to articulate the personal history of their own body, which resulted in poetic dance between dream and reality, accentuated with the sound of the wind blowing, which was last night on the Revelin terrace enhanced by the natural forces and strong wind. Critics have described this performance as impressive and suggestive symbiosis of lyrical and epic.

Last night's weather conditions may have favored the overall impression of dance performance on Revelin Fort, but they disturbed the second performance of Maximilian and Carlota on Lokrum, created by Milana Vuković Runjić and Daniel Rafaelić, which was ultimately canceled. Refunds for purchased tickets for this performance, canceled due to adverse weather conditions, can be obtained at the box office in the Festival Palace (Od Sigurate 1) which is open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
