Thana Alexa Project on Orsula this Wednesday

Young Croatian and American jazz singer Thana Alexa will perform with her band on Wednesday, July 29th at 9:30 pm at Orsula, which is a result of the first cooperation of Dubrovnik Summer Festival and Orsula Park.

Thana Alexa is young and talented jazz, blues and soul singer, composer and arranger of Croatian descent, born in New York where she has built a successful career. Numerous critics and renowned musicians with whom she has  performed, such as the late Bosko Petrovic or Antonio Sanchez, speak of her as a great and charismatic talent from whom  much can be expected. She is inspired by the divas like Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin and Ella Fitzgerald, and recently her first solo album called "Ode to Heroes," which includes her own compositions and arrangements, was released. On that album she has collaborated with many great artists,  who are well known among jazz lovers, such as Antonio Sanchez, Jorge Roeder, Sergio Salvatore, Donny McCaslin, Scott Colley and Christos Rafalides.

On Wednesday night she will be performing with pianist Eden Ladin, saxophonist Lennart Krečič, bassist Noam Wiesenberg and a special guest, four-time Grammy winner, Antonio Sanchez on drums. He is not only considered as one of the most prominent drummers of his generation, but he is also the author of the soundtracks for the film "Birdman" that won the Oscar for Best Picture 2015.

Shuttle bus to Orsula is included in the ticket price, and departure is at 8:30 pm from the Main Bus Station, with stops at the bus stop behind Grawe building, on Ilijina glavica and at the cable car. Tickets are available online on the website of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, at the official box offices and one hour before the concert at the entrance to the Orsula Park.
