Thriller-drama “Tom on the Farm” in the Slavica Open-air Theatre

Date created: 09.08.2014.

Projections of selected films from the Pula Film Festival at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, which started with “The Invisible Woman” and domestic film winners presented in July, will continue with a Canadian-French thriller-drama “Tom on the Farm” taking place on Monday, 11th August in the Jadran Open-air Cinema with a start at 9.30 p.m.

“Tom on the Farm“ (Tom à la ferme) is a film about Tom, a copywriter in a marketing agency, who travels to the countryside in order to attend the funeral of Guillame, his boyfriend, only to find that no one there is aware of his existence or the existence of his relationship with the deceased. Guillaume’s brother soon sets the rules of a twisted game, and Tom must act as a peacemaker in order to protect the family’s reputation and the deceased’s mother in a home where a dark past announces even bigger trouble.

The script was written by Michel Marc Bouchard and Xavier Dolan, who is also both the director and leading role, and gained international recognition with his debut film “I Killed My Mother”, which won three awards in the Director’s Fortnight category at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009. Staring in supporting roles alongside Xavier Dolan are Pierre-Yves Cardinal, Lisa Roy and Evelyn Broch. Prior to its projection at the Pula Film Festival, the film was featured at festivals in Venice and Toronto. The duration of the film is 102 minutes.

Tickets can be purchased at the price of 30 kunas online at www.dubrovnik-festival.hr, at the Festival’s box offices in the Festival’s Palace, Visia Multimedia Center and Luža Culture and Information Center, as well as at the entrance to the Jadran Open-air Cinema, one hour prior to the projection.
