The premiere performance of Dražen Šivak's monodrama Masks delighted the festival audience

The third theatre premiere this summer was Masks, a monodrama by Dražen Šivak. Performed last night, 12 August on the Bokar Fort, the excellent combination of lecture and acting was rewarded with long applause that called the director-and-actor back to bow as many as five times.

Masks premiers on the Bokar Fort

The third drama premiere of the summer is Masks, a monodrama by Dražen Šivak co-produced by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival and the UO Groupa (Art Organization Group) and in cooperation with Scena Ribnjak, on the Festival schedule tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, 12 and 13 August, starting at 9:30 p.m. at Bokar Fort.

Hungarian violinist Kristóf Baráti is recognised increasingly across the globe as a musician of extraordinary quality with a vast expressive range and impeccable technique, and Festival audiences will have an opportunity to see him in concert on Thursday, 10 August in the Rector’s Palace atrium, at 9:30 p.m. where he will be joined by his compatriots, the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra. On the programme are pieces by Mendelssohn, Mozart, Saint-Saëns and Bartók.

An amazing festival performance by excellent Croatian musicians

The leading Croatian musicians of the younger generation, cellist Latica Anić, pianist Krešimir Starčević and violinist Marco Graziani, held an excellent concert last night, 7 August in the Rector’s Palace atrium, with a specially selected repertoire to mark the big 150th anniversary of the birth of composers Sergei Rachmaninoff and Blagoje Bersa.

The Enchanted Forest is back on Lovrjenac from tomorrow

The musical-theatre piece The Enchanted Forest directed by Lea Anastazija Fleger based on one of the most famous Croatian children’s novels by Sunčana Škrinjarić, will be performed again on the Lovrjenac Fort from tomorrow, 8 August until Friday, 11 August to the delight of the youngest festival audience. Performances on the 8th, 9th, and 11th start at 8:30 p.m., while the performance on 10 August 10 is scheduled for 9 p.m. Tickets are sold out.
