The Croatian Baroque Ensemble was founded in 1999 by prominent Croatian artists Saša Britvić and Mario Penzar. The ensemble, consisting of renowned instrumental and vocal soloists, directs its creative energy to the historically authentic interpretation of the 17th-century and 18th-century music. Besides their annual series of six concerts in each concert season, presenting clearly conceived thematic programmes of Croatian and foreign baroque music production, the musicians regularly appear at national and international music festivals. Owing to their highly competent, stylistically pure and skilful performances, music critics and the audience place them at the very top of the music performing art in Croatia. In 2002, the ensemble released a compact disc Cecchini & Co. with trio sonatas by Croatian and Italian composers.
