Krešimir Stražanac (born in 1983) completed his bachelor and master studies at The State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, where he had studied in the class of professor Dunja Vjezović and in the class specialized in Lied with professor Cornelis Witthoefft. As an opera singer and Lied interpreter he further perfected his skills at the master classes given by the legendary soprano singer Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and the renowned baritone Thomas Hampson. At The Stuttgart Bach Academy he attended the master class for soloists interpreting oratorios by Johann Sebastian Bach. As a perspective opera singer and suggestive Lied interpreter, bass-baritone Krešimir Stražanac proved his worth rather early in his career at several international singing competitions. Stražanac pays special attention to art songs, and this has inspired him to organize impressive evenings of Lied in Venice, Bayreuth, Lienz, Vukovar etc. Since the concert season 2007-2008 Krešimir Stražanac has been permanent soloist at the Zürich Opera. He has thus performed with the greatest singers of today under the baton of some of the most significant conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Nello Santi, Franz Welser-Möst, Massimo Zanetti, Vladimir Fedosejev, Peter Schneider and Carlo Rizzi. Stražanac’s opera roles (Moralès in Bizet’s Carmen, Don Fernando in Beethoven’s Fidelio and Konrad Nachtigall in Wagner’s Mastersingers of Nuremberg) have been recorded as part of the complete editions of those operas, under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst, Bernard Haitink, and Jaap van Zweden respectively. He has perfomed last year, at the 64th Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
