Born in Ulan-Ude, Siberia, Russia. Studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Prof. Eliso Virsaladze (2010-2015) and currently completing his doctorate (PhD thesis) on a postgraduate studies. In 2004 he won the 5th International Nutcracker Television Competition for Young Musicians. He became famous in homeland when in 2010 he performed Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1 with the Gnesin Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra at the special gala concert on the Red Square to celebrate Russia Day, the national holiday celebrated annually always on June 12th. In 2013 he took the 3rd prize in the 59th Busoni International Piano Competition in Bolzano (Italy) and the 3rd prize in the Friuli Venezia Giulia International Piano Competition (Italy). In 2014 he was the 2nd prize winner in the 4th BNDES International Piano Competition in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). In 2015 he won the 6th prize at the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw what opened widely the doors to his world-wide career. Since that time Dmitry Shishkin performed frequently in all major Polish philharmonic orchestras including Warsaw Philharmonic, major venues and orchestras across Russia (Moscow State Symphony, Tchaikovsky Great Symphony Orchestra and Moscow Philharmonic), Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, the UK, Austria, China and Japan. In November 2016 he performed with a great success as a soloist in Hummel's piano concerto with the Russian National Orchestra under Mikhail Pletnev. In 2014 he became a recording artist for the KNS Classical label and in 2016 an exclusive Yamaha artist. Besides piano, he also composes.
