Marcello Di Lisa received his PhD in Philology and Greek and Latin Literature from the University of Pisa with a dissertation on the manuscript tradition of Archimedes' works. He collaborated with prestigious reviews of ancient philosophy, particularly focusing on Greek mathematics. Marcello Di Lisa studied composition with Francesco Vizioli and harpsichord and fortepiano with Andrea Coen. He founded Concerto de' Cavalieri at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa and since then he has conducted the ensemble at festivals and venues throughout Italy and abroad. In recent years his musicological research has focused on the unpublished scores by Alessandro Scarlatti, of whom he is considered one of the most reputed interpreters. In April 2013 Marcello Di Lisa was named Artist of the Month by Musical America.
