The Ensemble 1700 was founded in 2002 by Dorothee Oberlinger in Cologne and is dedicated to the European chamber music of the 17th and 18th centuries. Based on musicological sound and performance-practical basis, coupled with the highest technical skill, varied and lively concert programs emerged, which were enthusiastically received by press and audience alike. Guest appearances at important venues (e.g Konzerthaus Wien, Philharmonie Köln, Laeiszhalle Hamburg, Tonhalle Zurich) and at important music festivals (eg at Tage Alter Musik in Herne, Schleswig Holstein Musikfestival, Rheingau Musikfestival, or the Menuhin-Festival in Gstaad) were extremely successful. The first recording of the ensemble for Sony / Dhm with works by Georg Philipp Telemann was described as a scale-setting recording "with weight and verve" (Der Spiegel). In addition to the regular cast, Dorothee Oberlinger regularly invites renowned specialists as guests to concert projects and CD recordings. These include CDs such as "Deutsche Recorder Concerts" with Reinhard Goebel as conductor, which was included in the KulturSpiegel edited collection of the "Best Good Classical CD's", "French Baroque" with François Lazarevitch (Musette, flute) and Vittorio Ghielmi (Viola da Gamba) "Double Concertos" with double concerts by Georg Philipp Telemann, "ROCOCO" with Nils Mönkemeyer and Alfredo Bernardini, and the latest CD “small gifts” with Andreas Scholl, all released by Sony.
