The Slovene theatre director Sebastijan Horvat graduated in directing from the Ljubljana Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television. He is a co-founder of the independent theatre association E.P.I Centre, which has become a major performing and production centre dealing with theatrical research projects. From 2005, he has been engaged as a theatre directing professor at the Ljubljana Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television. Horvat has worked with a large number of theatres, such as the Maribor City Theatre, the Ptuj Theatre, the Slovene National Theatre of Maribor, the Glej Theatre, The Slovene National Theatre of Ljubljana, the ZHDK Theater der Künste Zürich, the Gavella Dramatic Theatre and the SSG Theatre of Trieste. His numerous accolades include the Šelig Award for Best Play at the 38th Week of Slovene Plays Festival in Kranj (2008), the Prešern Award for Theatre Directing (2008) and the Young Directors Award for Best Director at the Salzburg Festival within the Young Directors Project. In 2015, he made his debut at the Ivan von Zajc Croatian National Theatre of Rijeka with the play Nad grobom glupe Europe (At the Grave of Stupid Europe), which was shown at Belgrade's BITEF Festival, the Gavella Evenings Festival and the Satire Days Festival.
