Ivana Lazar (soprano) was born in Tuzla in 1976. She graduated in 2001 from the Zagreb Academy of Music with prof. Mira Zidarić Orešković, and was awarded the “Marija Borčić” award for the best graduate student. She obtained her Master of Arts degree with prof. Lidija Horvat-Dunjko and worked with Dunja Vejzović, Konrad Richter, and Olivera Miljaković. She received several awards for her work that include the “Darko Lukić” diploma, the “Milka Trnina” award (awarded by the Croatian Society of Musical Artists), and the “Jurica Murai” award for the best interpretation at the Varaždin Baroque Evenings festival. From 2006 to 2008, she was a CEE-Musiktheater/Deutschebank scholarship holder. Currently, she is a permanent member of the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb opera ensemble.

For several seasons already, Ivana Lazar is present on Croatian stage as an exquisite interpreter of the music from the period of baroque, early classics and classics. She was a soloist of the Croatian Baroque Ensemble for several years, and was a co-founder of the Camerata Garestin ensemble for early music. As a soloist, she also collaborates with the Croatian National Television Chorus.

Along with the concert activities, Ivana Lazar is very active on the operatic stage. She had her operatic debut at the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb in 2001 as Sister Genovieffa in Puccini's Suor Angelica. Since then, she sang variety of coloratura soprano roles such as: Gilda from Verdi's Rigoletto, The Queen of the Night from Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Ophelie from Thomas' Hamlet, Lucia from Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Adele in Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Musetta in Puccini's La bohème, Oscar from Verdi's Un ballo in maschera, Clorinda from Rossini's La Cenerentola, and others.

She has performed with many renowned orchestras at home and abroad, such as: the Zagreb Philharmonics, Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, Varaždin Chamber Orchestra, and Croatian National Television Symphony Orchestra. For several seasons, she performed as soloist with a world-renowned period ensemble "Le Parlement de Musique" from Strasbourg. Her performances won the audience and the largest Croatian festivals such as the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Varaždin Baroque Evenings, Osor musical evenings, Split Summer Festival, Rijeka Summer Nights and others.
