Harmonious Sound of Flute, Clarinet and Piano
On Wednesday, July 28, at 9:30 pm in the Rector's Palace Atrium, renowned musicians Massimo Mercelli, flute, Darko Brlek, clarinet and Bruno Canino, piano, have as a part of Dubrovnik Summer Festival music program, performed with Claude Debussy, Francis Poulenc and Camille Saint- Saëns compositions.

Italian flutist Massimo Mercelli demonstrated exeptional talent as a young artist and soon became the first flutist of the Venetian Teatro La Fenice. Mercelli performed in the eminent concert halls around the world and cooperated with the most reputable European orchestras. He’s the awarded winner of prestigious competitions Francesco Cilè, Giornate Musicali and Stress.
Accompanied with Mercelli on flute, the Rector’s Palace enjoyed the sound of clarinet played by the Slovenian musician and music manager Darko Brlek. Since 2005, Brlek has been the president of the European Festival Association that unites more than hundred best European festivals, with the headquarters in Bruxelles. He is also the Artistic and Managing Director of the Ljubljana Festival and the member of chamber ensemble Trio Luwigana, and the winner of numerous awards. Brlek continues to perform as a soloist and with orchestras.
Italian pianist and the composer Bruno Canini has performed as a soloist and the chamber musician in most of the European countries. Canini is the author of more than thirty compositions for soloists, duos, trios and chamber ensembles. For fifty years he was part of the famous piano duo together with Antonio Ballista. His work has been confirmed with the awards at the International Piano Competition, Bolzano and the Darmstadt International Chopin Piano Competition.
This perfect harmony of the flute, clarinet and piano delighted the demanding Festival's audience.
