Hit Play „Three Winters“ this weekend in Gradac Park

The awarded performance of Three Wintersby Tena Štivičić directed by Ivica Buljan and produced by Croatian National Theatre of Zagreb will be performed on Saturday 22 July and Sunday 23 July at 9.30 pm in Gradac Park. The play premiered in London to a great success and won the prestigious Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in New York. Its production in Zagreb has been received with universal enthusiasm, becoming a genuine hit.

Recently, with its appearance at the Montenegro National Theatre in Podgorica the ensemble finished its regional tour during which it appeared at the 62nd Sterijino pozorje in Novi Sad, Serbia and the Yugoslav National Theatre in Belgrade, Serbia. All of the performances received ovations and were very well accepted by critics. The media have declared it to be the peak of this year’s Sterijino pozorje. The audience is looking forward to see the play in Dubrovnik.

Three Winters follows the destiny of powerful women from four generations connected by one house. Tena Štivičić took the story of her own family as the starting point of her play. She was inspired by difficult life of her great-grandmother who gave birth to an illegitimate child during the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The play tracks events and people trough, as the title of the play says, three winters - in the years 1945, 1990 and 2011. These people are determining the destiny of the household in which years and memories are still being constructed. Tena Štivičić was born in 1977 in Zagreb, where she graduated in dramaturgy from the Academy of Theatrical Arts in 2001. In 2004, she obtained her master's degree in writing for performance from Goldsmiths College, University of London. She lives and works in London and Zagreb, and writes plays both in Croatian and English. Many of her plays are performed all over Europe. They have been translated into more than ten languages, and some of them have won prestigious theatrical awards.

The drama ensemble consists of Alma Prica, Ksenija Marinković, Dragan Despot, Jadranka Đokić, Luca Anić, Barbara Vicković, Mislav Čavajda, Bojan Navojec, Nina Violić, Damir Markovina, Siniša Popović, Mada Peršić, Silvio Vovk, Slavko Juraga and Ivan Glowatzky. Set designer is Aleksandar Denić, costume designer Ana Savić Gecan, musical composer is Mitja Vrhovnik Smrekar, video designer is Tony Soprano, dramaturgy is made by Mirna Rustemović, light designe by SONDA4.
