Orlando Awards for Best Artistic Achievements of the Festival
Croatian Radio and Television, in the presence of Croatian President Ivo Josipović, awarded the best performances at the 62nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival program with the Orlando Award - Mislav Čavajda for the main role in the play Oedipus the King and clarinet player Marija Pavlović, on August 26 at the Rector's Palace.

The Orlando Award for the best performance of the 62nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival Drama Program was given to Mislav Čavajda for the role of Oedipus in Sophocles' Oedipus the King, which had its premiere on August 24 at the Art School Park, directed by Eduard Miler and performed by the Festival Drama Ensemble. Čavajda’s creation of Oedipus marked the play itself, as well as the whole drama program. “The Festival gain the character of powerful expression, credible in doubt and steady in pain” – the jury concluded unanimously, convinced that - “after strange twists of fate, the Orlando Award goes to right hands, to the hands of an artist who, in difficult circumstances, demonstrated all the greatness of his talent and rationality of his being as an actor.”
The Orlando Award for the best performance of the 62nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival Music Program was given to Croatian clarinet player Marija Pavlović for her soloist performance with the La Scala Chamber Orchestra Gli Archi Scaligeri on July 16 at the Rector's Palace. Her virtuosity, sophisticated tune and profound musicality have demonstrated that Marija is s true master of the instrument and one of the most talented musicians at the Croatian classical music scene” – said the jury.
