Sophocles’ “Oedipus the King” as the third drama premiere
The third drama premiere of the 62nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival, the greek tragedy “Oedipus the King” by Sophocles in the direction of Slovenian director Eduard Miler and performed by the Festival drama ensemble, was held on the 24th of August in the Art School Park.

A Slovenian director with a longstanding work relationship in Germany and other countries of the region, Eduard Miler is, with good reason, one of the most prominent direction names in Eastern Europe. Behind him are over a hundred directed plays and many awards, with him recently being named the director of the Slovenian National Drama Theatre in Ljubljana.
For his first direction on the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Miler gathered a fantastic Slovenian- Croatian crew of drama artists. King Oedipus is played by Mislav Čavajda, Doris Šarić Kukuljica plays his mother Jocasta, Tiresias is played by Vili Matula, Creon by Livio Badurina, the priest by Dražen Čuček, the shepherd by Vladimir Dulić, the messenger by Jelena Lopatić, and in the drama choir appear students of the Academy of drama in Zagreb. The dramaturge of the play is Žanina Mirčevska, the screenplay editor is Branko Hojnik, the costumes designer is Marita Čopo, the music author is Frano Đurović, the chief of lighting is Zoran Mihanović, with the choreographer being Ivan Peternelj.
After the premiere on the 24th, “Oedipus the King” was performed on the 25th with the beginning at 21:00.
