Because of that, we invite you to a media conference on the 2nd of August at 11 AM in the press centre of the Festival Palace, with Ivana Sajko, director of the drama programme Dora Ruždjak and Branko Maranić, the representative of Mazda, the sponsor of the show. “Prizori s jabukom” have been performed in Bern in 2009. and make a second part of the trilogy that started with “Rose is a rose is a rose”. “Prizori s jabukom” are inspired by the biblical motive of the banishment from heaven, a story that in a modern perspective opens the question if the possibility exists that a “heavenly garden” could be made with such disastrous society we are surrounded with. It’s even asked if it is humane to want such a thing, and would not that person contain within itself the deepest, most profound social ignorance. Would not the people who inhabit this heaven be a sort of elite class amongst people? Would that heaven not be marred by the constant paranoia of its inhabitants, as they fear their gates would collapse and then they would be facing the world they did not save. The drama of Ivana Sajko is a history of one such event.
Ivana Sajko is the winner of several awards for drama literature, encompassing three Marin Držić awards for “Naranča u oblacima”, “Rebro kao zeleni zidovi” and “Misa za predizbornu šutnju, mrtvaca iza zida i kopita u grlu”. She is a member of the magazine for performing arts “Frakcija” and the literary magazine “Tema”. A co-founder of the group BADco., as well as director and dramaturge she cooperated with the performing collective until 2005. after which she directed and performed her plays by herself in hybrid performing forms, all the while experimenting with problems based on relation with drama text and scene performance.
Her plays are often performed abroad, and this is her first cooperation with the Dubrovnik Summer Festival. The costumes are the responsibility of Zijena Glamočanin, music Alen and Nenad Sinkauz, scenography Simon Bogojević Narath, and for the dramaturgy the man in charge is Sandro Šljan. Performers are Ivana Sajko and the Sinkauz brothers.
