Alena Baeva, violin
Vadym Kholodenko, piano
Violinist Alena Baeva, whose career is best portrayed not by the all the competitions she has won or musicians she has collaborated with, but the instruments she plays on, formerly Wieniawski’s Stradivari and currently a 1738 Guarneri del Gesu, is a stand-out among her generation, considered by many as one of the most exciting, versatile, and alluring soloists active on the world stage today. The impressive breadth of Baeva's vast and ever-expanding repertoare boasts over forty violin concerti, with the violinist especially championing lesser known works - which is reflected in her extensive discography. Baeva’s international career has grown at an extraordinary pace over recent years with numerous tours and concerts alongside highly renowned conductors and orchestras, as well as performances alongside fellow top soloists. Her regular sonata partner is the celebrated Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko (2013 Van Cliburn Winner), with whom she has established a musical partnership of more than a decade and with whom Baeva will be holding a concert in the Rector's Palace as part of the 73rd Dubrovnik Summer Festival's music programme.
