An evening of Croatian music with excellent soloists and strings

The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra String Chamber Ensemble with the young soloists Franjo Bilić on harpsichord and Lovro Merčep on saxophone under the baton of maestro Ivan Hut held a concert dedicated to Croatian composers last night, 14 July in the Rector’s Palace Atrium.

Presenting Kosovar composer Ardian Halimi as part of the #synergy project

The young composer from Kosovo Ardian Halimi, who is currently staying in Dubrovnik as part of a two-week residency on the project #synergy: Sharpening the capacities of the classical music industry in the Western Balkans, on which Dubrovnik Summer Festival is a partner, will present himself and his work to the festival audience tomorrow, 15 July in the Sponza Palace Atrium at 8.30 p.m. Entrance is free.

Franjo Bilić and Lovro Merčep with DSO’s String Chamber Ensemble tomorrow at Rector's Palace

The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra String Chamber Ensemble, accompanied by young soloists Franjo Bilić on the harpsichord and Lovro Merčep on the saxophone, under the baton of maestro Ivan Hut will perform tomorrow, 14 July at 9:30 p.m. in the Rector’s Palace atrium, performing works by Croatian composers Ruždjak, Bjelinski, Bersa and Papandopulo.

Izvor Pende's Response Exhibition Opened

Izvor Pende’s Response exhibition, realized by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in cooperation with the Croatian National Museum of Modern Art, was opened last night, 12 July in the Sponza Palace Atrium and Lazareti, the location of the main part of the exhibition.

“To be or not to be” on Lovrjenac in the upcoming days

The award-winning staging of Shakespeare's Hamlet, directed by Paolo Magelli and performed by the Festival Drama Ensemble tonight, 13 July 13 at 9.30 p.m on the Lovrjenac Fort, will open the drama portion of the 73rd Festival programme, with three more performances are scheduled for 14, 15 and 16 July.

Strong start of the 73rd Festival music programme with Nuria Rial & Accademia del Piacere

The award-winning Spanish soprano Nuria Rial performed last night, 11 July in the Rector’s Palace atrium alongside Fahmi Alqhai on the quinton and his Accademia del Piacere ensemble with an early music programme Muera, Cupido, or Death to Cupid, presenting to the festival audience 18th century Spanish theatre music.

Grand Opening of the 73rd Dubrovnik Summer Festival

Last evening’s raising of the Libertas flag to the verses of the Hymn to Liberty on 10 July in front of the St. Blaise's Church marked the 73rd Dubrovnik Summer Festival, held until 25 August on almost 20 site-specific locations in Dubrovnik, formally opened.

Izvor Pende’s Respones at Sponza and Lazareti from Tuesday

Prepared in cooperation with the Croatian National Museum of Modern Art, the exhibition of abstract works entitled Response by the renowned Dubrovnik artist Izvor Pende will be opened on 12 July at 9 pm in the Sponza Palace Atrium, with the evening continuing in Lazareti, the location of the main part of the exhibition. Entrance is free.

Festival Council holds traditional formal sitting ahead of the Opening

On the occasion of the opening of the 73rd Dubrovnik Summer Festival, today, a formal sitting of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival Council was held at the Festival Palace today, July 10, at 11 a.m. Under the chairmanship of the Minister of Culture and Media, dr.sc. Nina Obuljen Koržinek, in attendance were the Mayor of Dubrovnik Mato Franković, Deputy Prefect of Dubrovnik-neretva Joško Cebalo, the members of the Council Frano Matušić and Sanja Putica, the Festival POA Paulina Njirić and Artistic Director Dora Ruždjak Podolski with the Assistants for the Drama and the Music programme, respectively, Saša Božić and Tomislav Fačini.

Nuria Rial & Accademia del Piacere to start off the 73rd Festival music programme

Acclaimed Spanish soprano Nuria Rial and the Accademia del Piacere ensemble, led by the artistic director and author of the programme concept Fahmi Alqhai, will start off the music programme of the 73rd Dubrovnik Summer Festival with a concert in the atrium of the Rector’s Palace on Monday, 11 July at 9.30 p.m.
