Assistants to Dubrovnik Summer Festival's Artistic Director Appointed

Theatre director Saša Božić has been appointed Theatre Programme Director, conductor Tomislav Fačini has been appointed Music Programme Director, and musicologist Karolina Rugle has been appointed Innovative Cultural Practices Director.

Dora Ruždjak Podolski is the new Artistic Director of the Festival

Minister of Culture of the Republic of Croatia Nina Obuljen Koržinek appointed Dora Ruždjak Podolski the new Artistic Director of the Festival.

Orlando Award giving ceremony and Gala Concert at the end of the 68th Festival

The 68th Dubrovnik Summer Festival has been closed with the Gala concert and the Orlando Award giving ceremony for the best performances in the drama and music programme, last night, 25 August in front of St Blaise's Church. The Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alberto Veronesi, featuring last year's Orlando Award winner, the young Ukrainian violinist Aleksey Semenenko performed for the festival audience.

72 programmes have been successfully performed in 16 site-specific venues

This year too, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival has gathered together about 2.000 artists from all over the world, who have performed 72 theatrical, concert, opera, dance, folklore, film and exhibition programmes within 47 days, from 10 July to 25 August, in 16 site-specific venues in Dubrovnik and its surroundings. On that occasion, on the Festival’s last day, a press conference was held at the Sponza Palace Atrium. Iva Hraste Sočo, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, Mato Franković, Mayor of Dubrovnik, and Žaklina Marević, Deputy Prefect of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, commented favourably on the 68th Dubrovnik Summer Festival programme. Kazimir Bačić, General Manager of the Croatian Radio and Television, talked about the collaboration between the two institutions, while the Festival executives, Mladen Tarbuk, Acting Artistic Director, and Ivana Medo Bogdanović, Executive Director, elaborated on this year's Festival programme and its financial results. Mladen Tarbuk used the opportunity to thank his associates and bid them farewell at the end of his mandate.

Victory Over the Enemies will premiere on Sunday

Marin Držić - Victory Over the Enemies is the second drama premiere of the 68th Dubrovnik Summer Festival which is on the festival programme on 20 August at the Music School Park - it was announced at the press conference by the following speakers: acting artistic director Mladen Tarbuk, director Ivica Boban, author of the dramaturgical concept Hrvoje Ivanković, executive director Ivana Medo Bogdanović and Ante Režić, director of Dubrovnik’s Business Center and South Dalmatia OTP Bank which made a donation for the play.

One more Linđo Folklore Ensemble performance at the 68th Festival

Traditional Linđo Folklore Ensemble performance at Revelin Fort Terrace, this summer with enriched programme, will be held on Wednesday, 16. August at 9.30 pm which will be their last performance at the 68th Dubrovnik Summer Festival.

Renowned young guitarist Srđan Bulat in the Rector's Palace

Key to the Future - Young Laureates of International Music Competitions festival programme continues with guitarist Srđan Bulat on Sunday, 13 August at 9:30 PM in the Rector's Palace Atrium. The repertoire consists of Giulio Regondi's Étude No. 8 u G major, Antón García Abril's Dos Cantares, Francisco Tárrega's Capricho arabe, Joaquín Rodrigo's En los trigales, Marko Ruždjak's Double, Stjepan Šulek's The Troubadours Three, Isaac Albéniz's Mallorca and Željko Brkanović's Suita Mediterranea.

Goran Filipec's recital dedicated to Franz Liszt on August 8

As part of the music programme of the 68th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, the audience will have the opportunity to hear the recital named Soirée Franz Liszt by pianist Goran Filipec on Tuesday, 8 August, in the Rector's Palace Atrium starting at 9:30 pm.

PREMIERE ON SUNDAY: The Glembay World for the First Time at the Festival

The Glembays by Miroslav Krleža, directed by Zlatko Sviben and performed by the Festival Drama Ensemble will premiere at the 68th Dubrovnik Summer Festival on 6 August at the Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik.

Cello and Guitar Harmony by Monika Leskovar and Petrit Çeku at the 68th Festival
