One of the World’s Top Trumpeters to Perform with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra

The music programme of the anniversary 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival brings a stellar musical treat – the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra joined by the virtuoso trumpeter Håkan Hardenberger under the baton of maestro Franz Anton Krager; Saturday 20 July at 9.30pm in the Rector’s palace atrium. The evening’s exceptional programme will include Aaron Copland’s Music for the Movies, Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto in E Major, Summer Evening by Zoltán Kodály, Le Tombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel and finally the five-piece suite dedicated to Texas The Lone Star Pageant as arranged by Robert Nelson.

Music of Dubrovnik Summer Villas Dazzles Festival Audience

Last night, the audience in the Rector's Palace was wowed by the outstanding performance The Music of Dubrovnik Summer Villas, led by brilliant soloists Bojan Čičić and Dmitry Sinkovsky on violins, and Tomislav Fačini on harpsichord. The performance also included the excellent Elene Davidove, Hiwote Tadesse, Fran Petrač, Lea Sušanj Lujo, Stjepan Nodilo, Manuela Marija Mitterer, Hermann Ebner, Atay Bağcı and Izidor Erazem Grafenauer, who were rewarded with enthusiastic applause.

A Symposium on the Festival's Great Anniversary - The Future of Ambiance

The Future of Ambiance Symposium is a project headed by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival on the 70th anniversary of its exploration of ambiance and site-specific performances, and as a part of the 2-year Future Epics project which is supported by the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme –Culture subprogramme. From 18 to 20 July, the Symposium will gather relevant European and domestic artists, scientists and experts in contemporary site-specific performance in a number of locations around Dubrovnik. A special emphasis will be put on the history of Dubrovnik’s ambiance, on the challenges of festivalization and of festivals as cultural destinations, and on new ambiance.

Incredible Performance by the Zagreb Soloists and Martina Filjak in the Rector’s Palace Atrium

The Zagreb Soloists and pianist Martina Filjak performed Papandopulo, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Schönberg last night, 14 July, in the atrium of the Rector’s Palace in front of a large crowd of foreign and local music lovers. The two-hour concert by beloved Festival and Dubrovnik guests delighted the audience.

Lauba's Fascinations in Sponza Palace until August 15

Lauba’s Fascinations – the first exhibition at the anniversary 70 Dubrovnik Summer Festival – was opened on July 12 in the atrium of the Sponza palace. The works of seven contemporary artists were presented to the Festival audience: Gordana Bakić, Marija Ujević Galetović, Duje Jurić, Alem Korkuta, Kristijan Kožul, Đuro Seder and an artistic duo from New York TARWUK. The Siniša Majkus work Red Rock is also showcased.

Krešimir Stražanac and Danijel Detoni to perform Schubert in Kaboga Summer Villa

After the grand gala concert in front of the St. Blaise church the previous day, the music programme at the anniversary 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival goes spectacularly on in collaboration with the Caboga Stiftung foundation. On July 12 2019 at 9.30pm Schubert’s Winterreise will be performed by internationally acclaimed and award-winning Croatian musicians bass-baritone Krešimir Stražanac and pianist Danijel Detoni, in the dazzling Bunić-Kaboga summer villa.

Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony to Start Off the 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival

A gala concert will start off the music programme of the 70th and anniversary edition of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival on Thursday 11 July at 9.30pm with performances by the Lower Saxony State Orchestra and the Ivan Goran Kovačić Academic Choir with their distinguished soloists – soprano Evelin Novak, mezzo-soprano Janja Vuletić, tenor Tomislav Mužek and bass-baritone Krešimir Stražanac – under the baton of maestro Ivan Repušić. The concert will be held on the open festival stage in front of the Saint Blaise church. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 is on the repertoire.

The Festival’s Celebratory Summer - The 70th Anniversary Edition of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival Starts on 10 July!

Raising the Libertas flag to the verses of The Hymn to Liberty in front of St Blaise’s Church on Wednesday, 10 July at 21 will mark the opening of the 70th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, which will traditionally take place from 10 July to 25 August at more than thirty site-specific locations in Dubrovnik. The programme of the Festival’s anniversary season as well as many other interesting facts were presented to the public by the Artistic Director of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival Dora Ruždjak Podolski and Executive Director Ivana Medo Bogdanović on Wednesday, 3 July, at the Hotel Excelsior.

Tom Jones spectacular performance in Dubrovnik

One of the greatest living music legends, singer whose world glory lasts more than half a century, Tom Jones performed on 1 July, in front of the Dubrovnik Cathedral. This spectacular concert was organized by the City of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in collaboration with Star production.
