Date created: 15.08.2015.

After The Chords of Boka performance in the garden of Skočibuha Summer Residence, the new festivals off programme „Evening Serenades“ continued on August 10th on the Revelin fort terrace with Amira Medunjanin trio and Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mladen Tarbuk.

Born in Sarajevo, Amira Medunjanin has been working and performing with professional musical groups and has successfully promoted the culture and traditional music of the region on the world music scene.

Her fascination with the beauty of oral tradition of the region inspired her to dedicate herself to creating a specific artistic language which was neither subject to musical trends, nor a compromise between the existing musical stereotypes has been recognized by numerous European critics and juries by awarding her with several prestigious European awards including the one for Best female vocal of 2012 by French Fondation Orange. Music critic Garth Cartwright calls her „Bosnian Billie Holiday“, comparing the way Amira plays with sevdah and discovers a new context and form in this hundreds of years old tradition.

Along her side Bojan Zulfikarpašić on the piano and Ante Gelo on the guitar who have written the arrangement for this occasion, have performed, together with Zvonimir Šestak on the bass and Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra with conductor Mladen Tarbuk. Except sevdah which is the base of the programme several traditional songs from Macedonia were be performed. The tickets were completely sold out.

Two days after, August 12th at 10 p.m. on the same place a Hungarian violin virtuoz Roby Lakatos with his ensemble formed as a typical gypsy orchestra performed a programme called „La passion“ . Roby Lakatos, the king among the violinists, „violinist with the fastest fingers in the world“ as called by the critics, showed his undisputed virtuosity to the Festival audience by performing some of his own compositions and several by Astor Piazzola.
