Free Projection of the Film Collage “65 Years of Uncle Maroje at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival”

Date created: 09.08.2014.

As part of the “Dubrovnik Summer Festival from the Croatian Television Archives” and in collaboration with the Dubrovnik Cinemas, the second projection of the documentary film collage “65 Years of Uncle Maroje at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival” will take place tomorrow, 10th August in the Slavica Open-air Cinema. Entrance is free of charge.

The documentary film collage “65 Years of Uncle Maroje at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival” premiered in July, and is dedicated to this year’s premiere of Držić’s most popular comedy at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival - “Uncle Maroje”, directed by Krešimir Dolenčić and performed by the Festival’s Drama Ensemble. The play will be taking place tonight, 9th August on Držić Square.  Starting from a video recording of “Uncle” from 1954, a series of fragments of Stupica’s, Spaić’s and Juvančić’s adaptations of “Uncle Maroje” follow as part of the projection, along with scenes of the Dubrovnik summer lifestyle from the 50s, 60s and 70s of the past century selected from Croatian Television programmes. The collage about “Uncle” ends with an excellent documentary by Vinko Brešan about the creation of “Uncle Maroje” directed by Krešimir Dolenčić in 1995, which featured the appearance of the dearly missed actor Pređo, along with other renowned Croatian actors. In the production of the Croatian Radio Television, the collage is authored by director Hrvoje Juvančić.
