Italian Pianist Andrea Padova in the Rector's Palace

Date created: 19.07.2014.

Upon winning the J. S. Bach International Piano Competition in 1995, Andrea Padova has attracted the attention of the music critique and has ever since then been performing all over the world’s renown music centers such as New York, Washington, Montreal, Tokyo, Rome, Milano, Granada, Avignon, Tel Aviv, Istanbul and others. He has, apart from that, won many other awards and acknowledgements as a pianist, as well as a composer (Vienna Contemporary Music Competition, A. Casella Academy Chigian Siene Award, Wiener Masters, Malipiero, G. Contilli te Nuova Musica per Strumenti Antichi).

A Washington Post music critic reflected upon Padova’s performance by writing: “Pianist Andrea Padova transfuses sound into poetry. His virtuosity subtly echoes within every tact of the composition”. Padova is considered an extremely gifted musician and one of the leading interpreters of Bach and music of the 20th century. Alongside Scarlatti and Bach, he will be performing the works of György Kurtág, Arvo Pärt, Goffred Petrassi and Henri Dutilleux before the Festival’s audience.
