Lado's Imposing Dance Repertoire Traditionally Presented at the Festival

Date created: 28.07.2014.

The always varied and representative repertoire prepared for this year’s Festival’s audience consisted of the Ladarke Dance, Tanac of the Island of Krk, Dances of Prigorje, Boys’ Wheel-Dance of Bunjevci, Linđo, Wedding Guests of Podravina and others.

Croatian folklore tradition is world renown and recognized as one of the most various, beautiful and most artistically valuable, and LADO has played a major role in this recognition. Since its foundation as a professional folklore ensemble in 1949, they have had over 5000 performances in the country and 48 all over the world. They dance in more than 1200 sets of national costumes of outstanding value and beauty, of which some are over a hundred years old. LADO’s rich choreography repertoire, which has been formed over a number of years in collaboration with many ethno-choreologists and choreographers, represents the folklore heritage of all parts of Croatia. The ensemble has been awarded many prizes and acknowledgments, amongst which the Orlando Award at the 54th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, for their successful performances.
