Leader of Croatian contemporary music scene Cantus Ensemble at the Rectors Palace on Tuesday

Date created: 26.07.2015.

The Cantus Ensemble, which began to perform at the Zagreb Music Biennale in 2001, gradually became a top quality contemporary music ensemble performing exclusively the finest and most recent international repertoire. That is the reason why the ensemble managed to retain its leading role as the most active participant on the Croatian, regional and international contemporary music scenes. So it is no surprise that they are always offered a warm welcome at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.  This year, Cantus is led by a young conductor Ivan Josip Skender, who graduated at the class of maestro Uroš Lajovic.

Musicians will perform two compositions by Croatian composers of the younger generation - Contratempo by Sanda Majurec and Dominosa Octarine by Mirela Ivičević, and after the break Chamber Music No. 2 by Hindemith and Passacaglia by Anton Webern, which was created as his thesis and is his most performed work.

Tickets are available online on the website of Dubrovnik Summer Festival -, at the Festival Box offices, Od Sigurate 1, in Multimedia centre Visia and Cultural – Informative Centre Luža, and one hour prior to the concert at the box office at the entrance.
