Recital of a young Russian pianist Alexandar Kutuzov in Rector’s palace

As a part of the music program of the 66th Dubrovnik Summer Festival, a young Russian pianist Alexander Kutuzov will perform works of composers L. van Beethoven, R. Schumann, S. Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky on Thursday, 6th of August starting at 9:30 pm in the Rector's palace atrium. 

Kutuzov was born in 1996 in the Russian city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. At the age of six he moved to Tver and started attending music school to acquire musical training. Today, he studies at the State Academy of Music in Moscow, under Professor Maksim Philip. In 2008, as a twelve-year old student, he won the gold medal at the Russian Delphic Games, in 2010 he wins Grand Prix at the International Competition Blüthner and the second prize, and the second prize as well as EMCY at the International Competition for Young Pianists Step towards the art in 2011. In the same year, won the Grand Prix at the 4th Young Musicians Competition Nasedkin and in 2012 he wins another gold medal at the Russian Delphic games. His extraordinary talent is confirmed by the International Competition for Young Pianists held in memory of Vladimir Horowitz, in which he won the gold medal and EMCY prize. Soon after, in September 2012, he won the first prize at the 7th International Competition for young musicians Tchaikovsky in Montreux, Switzerland.

The program of his recital before the festival audience in the Rector's palace atrium are Piano Sonata no. 21 in C major, known as the Waldstein sonata by Ludwig von Beethoven, Carnival by Robert Schumann, Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme of Chopin based on Chopin's famous Prelude no. 20 in C minor and a selection from the Concert Suite Sleeping Beauty by composer Mikhail Pletnev to the ballet music of P.I. Tchaikovsky.

Tickets for the concert are available on the website of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival www.dubrovnik-festival.hr, in retail outlets in the Festival Palace (Od Sigurate 1), at the Stradun, in the Multimedia Centre Visia, and in Culture and Information Centre in Luži as well as two hours before the performance at the box office at the entrance.
