Rehearsals for Othello at Lovrjenac Fort have started

Rehearsals for the second theatre premiere at the 67th Dubrovnik Summer Festival - Shakespeare's Othello, directed by Ivica Boban and performed by the Festival Drama Ensemble, have started on Lovrjenac Fort on 1 August. After several months of rehearsals in Zagreb, team and the ensemble moved to Dubrovnik where they are continuing to work intensively on the preparation of the upcoming first performance.

On the occasion of marking 400 years since the death of the great English (and world) playwright William Shakespeare, Othello comes to Lovrjenac translated to Croatian by Vladimir Gerić and directed by Ivica Boban.

Set designer is Miljenko Sekulić and costume designer is Doris Kristić. Music composer and author of video projections is Willem Miličević and light design by Vesna Kolarec. Blaženka Kovač Carić is a choreographer, Lovro Buva teaches actors fencing, Đurđa Škavić is a linguistic advisor, and vocal coach as Iva Mihelić.

Dragan Despot is in aleading role of Othelloand Anja Đurinović is Desdemona, a wife to Othello. Rakan Rushaidat is Iago and Ivana Boban is Emilia, Iago's wife. Maro Martinović is a senator Brabantio, Desdemona’s father, and Filip Juričić is Cassio, Othello's lieutenant. Dado Ćosić isin a role of Rodrigo, a Venetian gentleman and Branimir Vidić Flika is a Duke of Venice. In other roles are: Andrej Dojkić, Livio Badurina, Jure Radnić, Marija Šegvić, Romano Nikolić, Mateo Videk, Nera Stipičević and Vini Jurčić.

First performance of Othello at the 67th Dubrovnik Summer Festival will take place on 20 August on Lovrjenac Fort.  Other performances are scheduled on 21, 22, 23 and 24 August. Tickets are available online and at the box-office in the Festival Palace (Od Sigurate 1).
