Date created: 25.07.2015.

One of the most prominent Slovenian vocal ensembles Slovenian Octet performed at the 66th Dubrovnik Summer Festival on Friday, July 24th, under the candle light in the Rector's Palace Atrium.

From its very beginning, the goal of this ensemble is to nurture and enrich vocal music from the Renaissance to the present day. An important place in its repertoire is reserved for the Slovenian folk music, which they represented all around the world. The Octet is made up of the first tenors Vladimir Čadež and Tim Ribič, second tenors Marjan Trček and Janez Triler, baritones Jože Vidic and Darko Vidic and basses Janko Volčanšek and Matej Vojo. They have won numerous awards and released three albums of the most beautiful Slovenian folk songs. They perform at all major music festivals and are a source of inspiration for young ensembles across Slovenia.

Slovene Octet has performed at the Dubrovnik Festival more than 30 times, while this year they performed Francis Poulenc’s Lauds de Saint Antonio de Padua, Franc Xaver Biebl’s Ave Maria, Arvo Pärt’s Most Holly Mother of God and Vytautas Miškini’s Cantate Domino. Following this, they performed Slovenian folk songs and in the final part of the concert a few spiritual songs toping it off with the traditional Jewish song, Shalom.
