Vocal music over the centuries in Bunić Kaboga Summer Villa

Date created: 11.06.2018.

As a result of cooperation of Dubrovnik Summer Festival and Caboga Stiftung Foundation, German vocal ensemble Singer Pur will perform in Dubrovnik on Thursday, 14 June. The concert will take place at the Bunić-Kaboga Summer Villa, starting at 21:00. Entry is free and free tickets are to be collected in advance from the Box Office of the Festival.

There are no stylistic limitations to the repertoire of this German ensemble. Their programmes include anything that can be performed by voice from mediaeval to avant-garde music, a host of new compositions and arrangements written for the group and various forms of improvisation. The programme of the concert in Dubrovnik is titled Sumer is icumen in, that is Summer has arrived, and it includes vocal compositions from 15th to 20th century. The aim to make a cappella singing the focus of their lives already developed at school, and soon after leaving the famous Regensburger Domspatzen cathedral boys’ choir, five former members decided to make their dream come true and founded Singer Pur in 1991. Then a fortunate love affair brought a soprano into their ranks. Soon afterwards, this sextet with an unusual combination of voices (a soprano, three tenors, a baritone and a bass) won first prize in the German national competition Deutscher Musikwettbewerb and a year later the coveted Grand Prix for vocal ensembles at the international Tampere Music Festival in Finland, which launched them on the road to becoming the leading German-speaking vocal group. This was followed by television and radio appearances, CD recordings, invitations to major festivals and concerts in almost 60 countries, and soon they established an international career.

Transport to the Bunić-Kaboga Summer Villa is organised in cooperation with the local public transport company Libertas Dubrovnik. The bus departs from the Pile Gate at 20:30, stops at the bus stop in Vukovarska Street on the way to the Villa, and returns right after the concert.

Entry is free, but due to the limited number of seats, tickets need to be collected in advance from the Box Office of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival at the Festival Palace (Od Sigurate 1). The Box Office is open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00.

The programme is supported by Maestral Hotels and Gulliver Travel.
