Young Virtuosos of the Esperanza Ensemble at Rector's Palace

Date created: 29.07.2019.

The talented young musicians of the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein have, in just four years, won numerous awards and acclaims, as well as published three records - they are the Esperanza Ensemble. Along with violinist Sara Domjanić and pianist Dmytro Choni, they will be holding a concert in the Rector's palace atrium on Tuesday, 30 July, at 9.30pm.

The evening’s programme will include Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Concerto for violin, piano and strings in D minor, Komitas Vardapet’s Miniatures as arranged by Sergei Aslamazian, Edward Elgar’s Serenade for strings in E minor, the St Paul’s Suite by Gustav Holst and the legendary Hendrix’s Purple Haze in Daniel Schnyder’s arrangement for strings.

The young ensemble – founded by the Croatian musician Dražen Domjanić who has already made Liechtenstein his second home – had their debut in February 2015, at the 5th Next Generation Festival in Bad Ragaz, receiving high praises by audience and critics alike. Since then, they held equally lauded concerts in Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Croatia. The ensemble has regularly been invited to various festivals, such as the Next Generation and MusicConnects festivals in Bad Ragaz, Switzerland, and Vaduz Classic in Liechtenstein. In 2017, they won the Special Achievement Award at the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA), followed by the Opus Klassik Award in September 2018 for best promotion of young talents. Soon after, the Esperanza Ensemble debuted at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, hosting a veritable mini-festival with four sold-out concerts.
